Innovative Control Systems Completes Frame 6B Control System Upgrade                     

Clifton Park, NY. May 26, 2010 - ICS has successfully completed a turbine control system upgrade on a General Electric Frame 6B generator in Dover, DE, USA. The upgrade included replacement of GE Mark IV Speedtronic TM control system with ICS RT-7 triple redundant controller. ICS also upgraded the synchronization equipment, installed generator load monitor equipment, and replaced a problematic water injection control valve and regulator with a new control valve.

The interface to the customer's existing GE Flametracker TM flame detection equipment was also improved to provide an analog indication of flame intensity in place of the digital indication provided previously, which permits early detection of flame detector degradation.

ICS began demolition and equipment installation on April 26, 2010. Commissioning of the equipment was completed 3 days ahead of original schedule. In addition to on-time completion of the control system upgrade, ICS also resolved longstanding system issues such as unreliable control of the water injection lead and lag pumps, inaccurate CEMS logging data and a voltage regulator sequencing problem.
